Time to implement findings and move toward peace!
In 2015, two high-level reports on violence arrived on the desks of Wilmington officials. In March, the Wilmington Public Safety Strategies Commission issued its final report with dozens of recommendations. In November, a long-sequestered report from the Centers for Disease Control addressed “Elevated Rates of Urban Firearm Violence and Opportunities for Prevention” in Wilmington.
This month’s Movement for a Culture of Peace Forum will address both of these reports. We will ask:
- What still needs to be done to implement the high-level research and thinking that went into these important reports?
- What stands in the way?
- And what can the community do?
MCP has invited a distinguished panel to tackle these questions—and we invite you to participate in this open forum and discussion. Our panelists will be:
RITA LANDGRAF, Secretary of Health & Human Services
DARYL CHAMBERS, Public Safety Strategies Commission Member
SEN. MARGARET ROSE HENRY, (D-Wilm.)
REP. STEPHANIE BOLDEN, (D-Wilm.)
Attached is a flyer to share with your networks. Because of the holidays, we are beginning publicity rather late. Please do all you can to let your friends and organizations know about this important forum, which will be held
